Healthy Lifestyle Hacks
This was one of my mom's discoveries like 10 years ago when she started learning about holistic health. Let me tell you that she hated it because she has a very sensitive gag reflex. So, when I came across this method on TikTok I commented it to my mom, but my she told me her experience and how she couldn't handle it. So I let it go. However, a few months ago I had some cavity issues, and I was desperate to find solutions for the pain. I was suffering so much I couldn't wash my teeth without feeling that overwhelming pain in my gums and tooth. My dentist wouldn't give me an appointment until a few days or a week, so I had to find a solution. I went on Pinterest, TikTok, Google, and the best recommendation was either swishing water with salt in your mouth, which I had already tried and seen no difference, or oil pulling. I decided to just wing it and give it a try, even though my mom was scared for me, but I was desperate. So, not knowing what it would taste like or be like I got a tbsp of coconut oil and put it in my mouth and started swishing it. I had mentally prepared to do it for 10 min, but as I started reading The Bible I completely lost track of time. I was so impressed how easy it was, and that even though sometimes you taste it, it tastes good cause its coconut oil.

What does Oil Pulling Do?
Oil Pulling is the best solution that targets all the bacteria in your mouth that causes gingivitis, plaque, bad breath, etc. It accomplishes this by pulling out all the bacteria and toxins from your tongue, the glands under your tongue, and the blood vessels under the tongue. By cleansing your mouth from these bacteria you can maintain a better oral health.
How To Start
Start off by finding some oil in your house or buy some from your supermarket, it can be olive oil, coconut oil, or sesame oil. Personally, I used coconut oil and I find it tastes good, and it is much healthier than other oils. Then, go ahead and grab 1 tbsp of the oil you chose and start gargling it in your mouth. Put a timer for the time you would want. I recommend starting off with 5-10 min, and gradually increase that time. The first time I tried it I could only do 15 min. But the next time 20 min was very easy to do, and soon I was even doing 30 min. The recommended time is about 10-20 min. Once, the time has finished spit out the oil onto a trashcan, and it should have turned into a white color. Do not spit it out into a sink because since it is oil with time it can build up residue and get clogged. After, rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth like you normally would.
What Oil Should I Buy?
You might be wondering what oil to buy, what brand is the most natural, which one gives the best results, etc. These are some ofthe best oil used for oil pulling:
Coconut Oil
Sesame Oil
Sunflower Oil
Olive Oil
Overall, COCONUT OIL is the most common for oil pulling, and also very popular for cooking.
This is the Coconut Oil I buy, and I use it for Oil Pulling and for cooking tons of Recipes.
How many times a week should I be Oil Pulling?
When, I first started Oil Pulling I thought I was supposed to do it every day. Specially, because I was suffering with inflammation in my gums and a certain, very painful, cavity. Due to this, I have been trying to keep being consistent with doing it everyday. However, you must keep in mind to avoid swallowing the oil, which could cause stomach problems. Addtionally, after researching, and watching many videos from oil pulling enthusiasts to actual specialists, many share how when starting to oil pull, it is recommended to do it every day. However, once your bad breath is gone, your sensitivity is gone, and you actually start seeing and feeling the change you can start doing it just a few times a weeek.
My Personal Oil Pulling Routine Tip
At first I would just do Oil Pulling whenever I had time throughout my day. However, with time I've been researching more and more, and tried to add all the different tips I learned into one routine.
First, thing in the morning I drink 1 cup of glass, and do Oil Pulling for 15-25 min depending on how much time I have. 15 mins is enough though, I just like to be extra. After I spit the oil in the trashcan, I go ahead and swish some warm water in my mouth and spit it out, to get any oil left gone. Then, I have a cup in which I mix water and salt and do some swishes with that and spit them out, to get rid of bad bacteria with the salt's anti-bacterial properties. Finally, after that I go ahead and eat some breakfast and wash my teeth after eating.
Best Places to Keep Researching
Ever, since I started my research on Oil Pulling, I opened my eyes to so many lies I found myself believing. After, watching many videos and researching, the best advice came from Ms. Barbara O'neill, and Dr. Ellie. Also, Barbara O'neill's research and overall holistic teachings are amazing. Definitely check those out, because she teaches all about the body healing itself and many natural remedies.
